FAQs About ASVAB CEP Testing

What is the ASVAB CEP?

The ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) is a free career assessment and planning tool. This includes the ASVAB test – which measures strengths and abilities in areas like math, science, and language – and provides students with access to the ASVAB CEP website, where they can explore matching careers, training options, and education pathways. The program helps students in grades 10–12 identify their skills and make informed decisions about their futures, whether they plan to attend college, enter the workforce, or consider military service.

How long does the ASVAB test take?

The ASVAB is self-paced, but most homeschool students finish within 1.5 to 2 hours.

Do you provide test-taking tips or orientation before the test?

Yes. A virtual parent and teen orientation is offered before the test date. This session is held on Zoom and scheduled in coordination with your organization’s timeline.

What is the minimum number of students required to host the ASVAB?

A minimum of 20 students is ideal for hosting a test session. This ensures efficient coordination and availability through MEPS.

What kind of space or room setup is needed?

A classroom or conference-style room works well. Laptops can be placed back-to-back with enough spacing between students to maintain privacy.
Please also provide seating for parents during the Post-Test Interpretation (PTI) that follows the test.

Is there a proctoring or coordination fee?

I don’t personally proctor the test unless requested by the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). However, I do charge a coordination fee that covers on-site organization, the virtual orientation, and the Military Service Pathways workshop.
The ASVAB test itself is free.
Flat group rate: $400
Travel and lodging (if required) must be covered by the host organization.
A detailed pricing flier (shown above) is available upon request.

How do families register for the ASVAB test?

Families register through your organization, not through a secondary system.

What do students need to bring?

Each student must bring a laptop or Chromebook to complete the online test.

How are test dates scheduled?

Test dates depend on MEPS availability. Once confirmed, the date is locked in and cannot be changed except in the case of a MEPS shutdown or other unforeseen circumstance.

Are parents allowed to stay during the test?

Parents cannot remain in the room while students are testing. However, they should return afterward for the Post-Test Interpretation (PTI) session, where results are reviewed and the ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) website is explained.

Who is eligible to take the test?

The ASVAB is available to students in grades 10–12 only.

Are test scores shared with the military?

No. Scores are not automatically disclosed to the military. “Do Not Disclose” is always selected during scheduling. If a student later chooses to pursue enlistment, they can release their scores voluntarily.

Can we schedule a meeting to discuss hosting the test?

Absolutely. A Zoom meeting can be arranged to review details, answer questions, and finalize arrangements. Contact me to set up a time.
