In this highly interactive course, students step into the role of global leaders and experience how international decisions are actually made.
Using simulations developed by the Council on Foreign Relations, students engage in diplomacy, navigate conflict, and wrestle with the kinds of ethical decisions governments face every day.
This isn’t a lecture-based class. It’s a leadership experience.

How the Course Works
Each week is built around active participation.
- Brief instructor-led context and key concepts
- Small group diplomacy simulations
- Whole-group negotiation and decision-making
- Guided debrief connecting to real-world events
Students are not passive. They are thinking, speaking, negotiating, and responding in real time.

Course Details
Grade Level: High School (Ages 14–18)
Format: Live virtual class
Length: 12–14 weeks (Fall Semester)
Schedule: Mondays, 10:00 to 11:30 am Eastern
Credit: 0.5 High School Credit (Social Studies)
Weekly Expectations
Students complete light preparation before class, such as short readings, videos, or guiding questions.
After class, they submit brief reflections to reinforce learning and support grading.
Grading
Grading is simple and designed for homeschool recordkeeping.
- Participation in simulations and discussions
- Completion of short reflection assignments
- Final reflection or position paper

Instructor
Natalie Mack is a homeschool educator with over 20 years of experience, a national speaker, and a subject matter expert in military homeschooling.
She has taught courses in ethics, civil discourse, and global affairs, helping students learn how to think clearly and engage thoughtfully with the world.
